Day One: San Juan Island Southern Loops
Bespoke Guided TourVisit American Camp, National Historic Park, False Bay Marine Preserve, Lime Kiln State Park, & Pelindaba Lavender Farm
Your first day consists of our “Bespoke Bike Tour.” Departing our touring center at 10am, you’ll casually ride backroads stopping occasionally to visit some of our favorite local places Your guide may take you for a short walk at San Juan Island National Historic Park or stop to share an amazing vista. If you’re a nature lover you’ll enjoy learning about the ethnobotany of the Salish People.
By early afternoon we’ll be ready for lunch at the picturesque Lime Kiln State Park! It is our belief that a great bike tour requires great food and since this is San Juan County, you can expect locally grown, organic, fresh made and plenty of it!
After lunch we’ll continue our bicycle tour to Pelindaba Lavender Farm, stop for some more scenic views and make our way back to our Touring Center by about 3:30 p.m. The route has some rolling hills along quiet country roads. It is designed for healthy, reasonably fit people who are comfortable riding a bike. The total riding distance is typically between 25-30 miles. Dinner will be at a wonderful downtown restaurant right in town.
Day Two: San Juan Island Northern Loops
Self Guided TourVisit Roche Harbor, Westcott Bay Sculpture Park, English Camp, & Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm.
The ride follows rolling back roads to Roche Harbor. This sheltered cove has been a
haven for sailors for over 150 years. There are several waterfront restaurants – ideal for a leisurely lunch in the sunshine.
After lunch, you go on to explore British Camp (the site used by the British troops during the joint
military occupation of the Island in 1859).
From here it’s a meandering loop back to Friday Harbor along
the west coast. In places, you’re less than 3 miles from the Canadian border, and the snowcapped mountains of Vancouver Island frame the western horizon. Sites en route include an outdoor sculpture
park, an alpaca farm, and Lime Kiln State Park – the nation’s only whale watching park. Wildlife is a common sight – orcas in the ocean, deer on the
land and bald eagles in the air.

Traditional Inn: If you prefer the simplicity and personal service of a traditional Inn, your lodging will be at the Discovery Inn or another exceptional Friday Harbor Inn (based on availability at the time of booking).

Day Three: Lopez Island Excursion
Self Guided TourLopez Island is the most friendly, peaceful, and relaxed island in the San Juan chain
Today, you head over to Lopez Island – the “Friendly Isle.” This 15-mile island is one of the most peaceful and relaxed islands in the San Juan chain. Once on Lopez Island, Intermediate riders cycle
past driftwood-scattered beaches to Spencer Spit with stunning views of the snow-capped Cascade Mountains. After cycling past small farms that produce fruits and vegetables, you get to Shark Reef Sanctuary where seals bask in the sunshine. From there you head back to Lopez Village.
